NEW YORK, NY - On March 29, 2012, Michael L. Moskowitz, a founding member of Weltman & Moskowitz, LLP, participated as one of the judges in the Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School's 23rd Annual Moot Court Competition. The tournament was co-sponsored by the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.
There were approximately fifteen high schools competing and thirty-five Judges. Each school brought two or three teams of three students who competed in a trial that lasted approximately 50 minutes. There were four preliminary rounds before lunch. After lunch, the teams with the best records advanced to the semi-final and final rounds of the tournament. Each case had a judging panel of two or three judges with a greater number of judges for the later rounds.
Mr. Moskowitz is a 1975 graduate of Plainview JFK High School and is a 1982 graduate of the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.
